Some men brought to
him a paralytic, lying on a mat. When Jesus saw their faith, he
said to the paralytic, “Take heart, son; your sins are forgiven.”
Matthew 9:2
Several things could be learned from this one verse, but
what I’d like to point out is that “Jesus saw
their faith.” God honors the “action” of
faith. It’s after we act in faith that
He rewards our faith. Therefore if you
know something is God’s will, don’t sit around and wait for God to do
something. Don’t just pray about
it. Don’t just agree with it – act
on it.
We can apply this in
two ways:
1. Stay in tune with
God’s will.
This is the confidence we
have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he
hears us. And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that
we have what we asked of him. 1 John 5:14-15
2. Let God see your
faith by going into action.
Faith by itself, if it
is not accompanied by action, is dead. … I will show you my faith by what
I do. James 2:17-18
Brothers and sisters, we
instructed you how to live in order to please God, as in fact you are
living. Now we ask you and urge you in the Lord Jesus to do this more and more.
1 Thessalonians 4:1
It has taken a few months and many conversations with God to comment on this message. The result of those conversations has led Gordon and I to a giant leap of faith...getting married. The more we learn and grow in Christ the more we are committed to his will for us. In December we set a date to be married April 6th. To say I wasn't nervous knowing that our already small income would become a lot smaller would be to lie. However, in my heart I chose to lean on God's understanding, His promises and let him lead us down any path we will face in the future. We no sooner announced our wedding plans and the blessings came pouring down on us. Thank you Father God for always honoring your word and promises. I pray that our wedding will be a testimony of our faith and encourage others who have walked our path to lean on your strength, love and giving heart. Thank you for helping me to understand your will for my life. Thank you for all the wonderful people who have given their hearts to be vessels of your love for us. May I always remember my long awaited marriage as a reminder that you are the Great I Am. The one and only God who created all things and can do all things. Thank you for loving me, for forgiving me and for your mercy in every aspect of my life. To you I give all the praise and glory and ask that you bless our marriage...I ask this in your precious son's name Jesus according to your will...Amen
